She was born May 15, 1918, in Chicago to John and Mary (Oplaski) Humecke. On Sept. 14, 1946, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Elkhart, she married Leland Carr. He died Feb. 11, 1983.

Mrs. Carr is survived by two daughters, Ann (Robert) Wroblewski of Elkhart and Susan (Stephen) Weaver of Niles; one granddaughter, Heather (Thad) Jaynes of Indianapolis; and one sister, Geraldine Humecke of Campbell, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary; her husband, Leland; one grandson, Brian Wroblewski; two brothers, Raymond Humecke and John Humecke Jr.; and two infant sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and a half hour prior to the 11 a.m. Saturday Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Phil DeVolder of St. Vincent's will officiate. Deacon Ramiro Reyes will officiate a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial and graveside services will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery in Elkhart.

Mrs. Carr retired from Midwest Commerce Insurance after 17 years of service. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She was a wonderful homemaker and an avid reader. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes.
