Elaine (Kubrin) McMurray, 82, of Elkhart, and formerly of Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Brentwood Assisted Living surrounded by loving family as she went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on May 18, 1941, in Youngstown, OH, to the late Stephen and Louise (Gol) Kubrin. On June 18, 1960, in Youngstown, OH, Elaine married her high school sweetheart, Dean McMurray. They recently celebrated their 63-year anniversary together with their family.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Dean, of Elkhart; daughters, Wendy (Gregory) Thorne, and Shelli (Michael) Stutz, both of Elkhart; grandchildren, Alyssa (Curt) Konopasek of Fort Wayne, Stephen Thorne of Chattanooga, TN, Michael (Renee) Stutz of Grand Rapids, MI, Taylor Stutz of Grand Rapids, MI, and Drew Stutz of Indianapolis; great grandchildren, Nolan and Avery Konopasek, both of Fort Wayne; sister, Marilyn Kobus of Poland, OH; and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law, Jack Kobus.

In her younger years, Elaine worked as a bookkeeper. She was an avid reader, enjoyed golf, crocheting, shopping and playing bridge. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

In accordance with Elaine's wishes, cremation has been chosen and a private celebration of life will take place at a later date. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting with arrangements.
