MILFORD -- Eileen Janice Torkelson, 61, of 505 W. Fourth St., formerly of 181 N. Elkhart Ave., Elkhart, died at 3:25 p.m. Saturday (June 9, 2007) in Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Milford.

She was born July 21, 1945, in Gary to Joseph J. and Lillian (Sokolowski) Jarosz.

She is survived by one son, Jeffery P. (Melissa) Ossello of Miller Beach; three daughters, Judy Ann Ossello of Portland, Ore., Julie Lillian Torkelson of Chicago and Joleen Janice Ossello of Laytonville, Calif.; one granddaughter; and one sister, Andrea Przybyla of Elkhart.

There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Elkhart, with the Rev. Bill Sullivan officiating. Cremation has taken place. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Torkelson was formerly employed as an elementary school teacher and at the probation department in Elkhart. She led a zestful lifestyle, touching many souls as a mother, grandmother, wife, retailer, school teacher, creative organizational planner and through her enjoyment of the blues. She also was proud of her Polish heritage.
