ELKHART — Edward E. "Eddie" Mamoran Jr., 61, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 24, at his home after an extended illness.
Eddie was born Feb. 19, 1953, in Charleston, W.Va., to Edward Sr. and Ruth "Boots" (Powell) Mamoran. He lived most of his childhood in Lebanon, Va., before moving to Elkhart in 1970.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; father Edward Mamoran Sr. of Elkhart; siblings, Carol (Dennis) Nichols Steven "Hank" (Cindy) Mamoran of Elkhart and Cheri (Richard) Murphy of South Bend; nieces Lisa (Tony) Bails of Elkhart and Jessica Miller of Elkhart, who was also his caregiver over the last few weeks; and two nephews, Bradley (Amy) Whalen of Mishawaka and Danny Staley of Elkhart. He also had numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and was loved by all.
Eddie's mother, Ruth "Boots" Mamoran, preceded him in death.
He was a 1971 graduate of Concord High School.
Eddie worked at several RV and fiberglass plants over the years but is probably best remembered for his years of bartending in Elkhart and Goshen.
He was a lifelong sports fan who loved the Cubs, Colts and Notre Dame. He was an avid builder and collector of model cars. He enjoyed playing pool, cards and darts.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Following the gathering, a celebration of Eddie's life will follow immediately at Barney's Bar, 2700 Hammond Ave., Elkhart. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow.
Burial of his cremated remains will be at a later date in Prairie Street Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the family.
