Edward "Ed" Correia, 88, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at his home. He was born on October 30, 1934, in Salinas, CA, to the late Joe and Rita (Gomez-DeGuerro) Correia.
Surviving Ed are his children, Rita (Dennis) Kane of Sarasota, FL, and Joseph (Andrea) Correia of Holly Ridge, NC; grandchildren, Stephen, William and Patrick; girlfriend, Rachel Mast of Elkhart; brother, Joseph Correia of Chula Vista, CA; and a loving host of extended family, friends and coworkers.
In accordance with Ed's wishes, cremation has been chosen and no services have been planned at this time. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ed proudly served in the United States Navy, both in active duty and in the reserves for a total of 10 years. His most notable assignment while in the Navy was being stationed on the USS Hornet CVA-12.
When Ed came to Elkhart, he worked for Skyline Corporation as a purchasing agent for over 25 years. He honorably retired from this position in 2000.
In his younger years, Ed was a very active man, involving himself in various sports such as softball, gymnastics, and bowling. He enjoyed being able to participate in different teams and games, always striving to do the best he could and have a good time. Ed was also very giving as he notably donated over 22 gallons of blood to local clinics throughout the years, allowing others the opportunity to live happier, healthier lives with his donations.
Ed, along with all the joy and love he shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts he touched throughout his life.
