ELKHART— Edith V. Herman, 90, of Elkhart, went to be with the Lord on at 2:40 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Elkhart.
She was born on May 4, 1922, in Jersey Shore, Pa., to Elmer and Mildred (Smith) Ammerman. On Aug. 5, 1939, Edith married Harry L. Herman in Jersey Shore. He passed away March 22, 2002.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Roger, Reggie and Dean Herman; and a grandson, Paul Herman.
Surviving are daughter Eleanore Linn of Elkhart; sons Neil (Cheryl) Herman of Elkhart and Bill Herman of Michigan City; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Edith worked as a press operator at Taylor Products and also at the Ponderosa Steak House at the salad bar. She attended Beulah Missionary Church and was a wonderful cook, animal lover and an avid Notre Dame fan.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2012, at Beulah Missionary Church, 57595 Old C.R. 17, Goshen. Pastor Jack McGlasson will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Edith's family.
