ELKHART -- Durwood Sadewasser, 87, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Thursday (April 8, 2010) with his family present.
Durwood was born Dec. 19, 1922, to Fred and Martha (Holtz) Sadewasser. He married Beryl (Fennell) Warble on June 14, 1947, in Centreville, Mich. She survives along with their daughters Connie (Bill) Meyers and Cathy (Alan) Hawkins, both of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; three nieces; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Phyllis (Warble) Sullivan; sister Donna Gloor; and brother Dale Sadewasser.
He was involved in farming and maintenance and was an all-around handyman, being skilled at home carpentry and woodworking.
On July 4, 1951, he and Beryl were baptized and became faithful witnesses for Jehovah. Durwood will be remembered for his zeal for Bible study, meetings and the ministry. His bright smile, love of life and his humor will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Elkhart North Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1921 Jeanwood Drive, with Elder Ron Marshall officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Elkhart North Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
