ELKHART -- Duane F. Haut, 58, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday evening (Feb. 18, 2011) at Valley View Health Care Center.
He was born on Mar. 18, 1952, in Elkhart to William Raymond F. and Mary Jane (Pletcher) Haut. He is survived by his sister, Marsha (Mike) Cramer of Goshen; nieces, Autumn (Adam) Lindley of Edwardsburg, Mich. and Nicole (Paul) Ganczak of Goshen; three great nephews; a great niece; and his close friend, Cheri Paluzzi of Elkhart.
Duane was preceded in death by his father in 1954 as well as his mother and stepfather, Mary Jane and Elliott Steele, and his faithful dog Mugsy.
Duane was employed at Flexible Foam Products in Elkhart for 25 years. He was a 1971 graduate of Elkhart High School, loved Elvis Presley and singing his songs and enjoyed photography, art, model trains and science fiction.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Billings Funeral Home, where a celebration of his life service will begin at 7 p.m. The Rev. Brian Baughman will officiate. Private graveside services will be held at Rice Cemetery on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family's preferred memorials are to Humane Society of Elkhart County, 54687 C.R. 19, Bristol, IN 46507 or Elkhart First Brethren Church 24197 C.R. 16 E., Elkhart, IN 46516.
