Douglas A. Munson, 69, of Elkhart, formerly of Sturgis, Mich., passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 at Golden Living Center, Elkhart.

Doug was born on Nov. 15, 1947 in Sturgis, Mich. to the late Eugene D. and Kathryn A. (Vanzile) Munson.

He is survived by a sister Marsha (David) Comer, nephew, Michael (Lisa) Carper, niece Michele (Thomas) Walney and nephews Douglas and Scott Munson; five  great nephews.

Doug was a truck driver for Sturgis Molded Products for 14 years, retiring in 2009. He was a proud U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War.

Serving from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1970.

He was a member of the Sturgis American Legion Post 73 and F.O.E. Sturgis.

A graveside service for Douglas will be held at the Prairie Street Veteran Towers at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, where military honors by the USMC Honor Guard and Marine Corp League will be rendered.

Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home.
