ELKHART -- Douglas L. "Doug" Nine, 73, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born June 11, 1938, to Morris and Dorothy (Oswald) Nine in Nappanee. On Feb. 11, 1961, he married Judy (Ellsworth) Nine. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Wendy (Tom) Eash and Molly Nine, both of Elkhart; brother Kim Nine of Nappanee; two sisters, Sandy and Tina, both of California; and granddaughter Amanda Eash of Elkhart.
Prior to his retirement in 2007, Doug was employed as a truck driver for several years, most recently with Hy-Line Travel Trailers. Doug enjoyed spending time with his family, playing gin, watching NASCAR and tennis. He will greatly miss his little dog and best friend "Bear Bear."
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday, July 29, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Gary Sheets will officiate. Interment will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart
