Douglas R. Harris Jr., 57, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at his residence. He was born on October 5, 1965, in Elkhart to the late Carla (Prenzinski) Harris and Douglas Harris Sr. who survives him.

Doug is also survived by his stepmother, Kathy Harris; sister, Colette (Dave) Harris Brown; and his best friend, Lewis Chadwick. He is preceded in death by his mother.

Doug kept to himself but had a great sense of humor and a laugh he often shared with those close to him. He enjoyed working as a union carpenter for various local businesses for many years prior to retiring. When he was younger, he and his father would often go camping together. During his spare time, Doug enjoyed being out on the river with his close friends and spending time at home with his faithful furry friend, Eby.

Cremation was chosen. Visitation for Doug will take place on Friday, July 7, 2023, from noon to 1 p.m. with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart.
