ELKHART -- Dorothy A. Walker, 86, of Elkhart, died at 12:50 p.m. Friday (Jan. 8, 2010) at Hubbard Hill Estates.

She was born March 3, 1923, in Union County, Pa., to Arthur Newton and Margaret (Kelster) Galer. She married Myron Edwin Walker on April 30, 1945, in Union County, Pa.

He survives, along with one son, Alan E. Walker of Elkhart; one daughter, Kay I. Hoffman of Lewisburg, Pa.; two brothers, Raymond (Doris) Galer of Middlebury, Pa., and Charles (Etta) Galer of Port Trevorton, Pa.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Mrs. Walker owned and operated the Popcorn Shoppe along with her husband in the former Pierre Moran Mall from 1984 to 1989. Prior to that, they owned the Day Star Restaurant in Watsontown, Pa., from 1954 to 1959 when she and her family moved to Elkhart. She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 599 in Elkhart. She enjoyed working with the public and loved all types of sports, especially Notre Dame Football.

There will be no visitation or funeral services held locally. A private burial will be held at Mifflinburg Cemetery in Mifflinburg, Pa.
