Dorothy spent well over three decades as a machine operator at Accra-Pac in Elkhart, but her real loves she could find at home. She enjoyed spending time with her adult children and younger grand and great grandchildren, and when they weren't around, she kept bust gardening her cucumbers, tomatoes and beans as well cooking family favorites like ribs, pies, cakes, greens and potato salad. In actuality, she really could cook just about anything, and it was often said that her more exotic dishes, like Chinese cuisine, usually came out better than what you could at at a Chinese take-out place. She had also worked at a rib house and a donut place in the past as well, so that certainly helped with her cooking talent.
But what Dorothy will be most remembered for is what she was on the inside as opposed to the outside; kind, loving and accepting, although she was very outspoken about what she believed in! Dorothy never minced her words, but she usually got her point across using reason, kindness and common sense, and she never wanted to ruffle anyone's feelings unless they needed to be told "what time it was…"
