ELKHART — Doris Mae Myers, 89, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully following an extended illness at 6:50 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at the home of her daughter.
She was born, in Elkhart, July 31, 1926, to the late Esco M. and Pearl A. (Mortimore) Maggert.
Surviving are her son, Richard "Rick" (Terri) Myers and her daughter, Carla Everson, both of Elkhart; eight grandchuldren, 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her daughter, Barbara Jester, and her brother, Wayne Maggert.
Doris' life will be celebrated at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart with a viewing extending from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service there at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14. Family members and Pastor Mike Anderson of the First Baptist Church of Vandalia, Mich., will officiate, and burial will follow the services in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Elkhart.
Doris worked many years as a machine operator at Taylor Products in Elkhart. She was a proud UAW member and attended Grace Brethren Church on Apple Road in Osceola.
