ELKHART -- Doris C. Morse, 74, of Elkhart, passed away at 5:02 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 8, 2010) in Elkhart General Hospital following a brief illness.

Doris was born in Elkhart on Aug. 31, 1935, to the late Alpha Van and Linda (Droegmoeller) Haven. She married Roger Norman Morse on April 29, 1972, in Osceola. He passed away on April 11, 1998.

She is survived by daughter Cynthia (Bill) Hoopingarner of Edwardsburg, Mich., and son Joseph (Candy) Kirchner of Elkhart. She is also survived by her five grandsons, Billy (Jill) Hoopingarner, Heath (Shannon) Kirchner, Adam Hoopingarner and Richard and Roger Kirchner. Five great-grandchildren survive as well. She also leaves behind sisters Linda (Gene) Taber of Elkhart, Gloria (Lawrence) Hein of Goshen and Shirley Murphy of Elkhart.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Eileen Wentzel, Micky Mabie, Norma Lambo, Wanda Geroux, Deannie Watson, Jennie White and infant Iris Haven.

Doris was a homemaker and a former member of the ladies auxillary at American Legion Post 308 in Osceola. Her most special times were spent with her family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (Aug.11, 2010) at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Friends also may call for one hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 12, 2010) at Billings Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Knight of Osceola Grace Brethren Church officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
