Doris Helen Hasse, 90, of Elkhart, went Home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

Doris was born on January 27, 1935 in New York City, to Josef and Valeria (Zolandz) Stann.  She married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Hasse, at Calvary Baptist Church in New York City on October 6, 1956.  He passed away in 2023.  Doris was also preceded in death by her 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Doris is survived by her children: Mitchell (Kathleen) Hasse, Roberta (Bob) Vanderwal,  and Alan (Tracey) Hasse; grandchildren Nathaniel (Amanda) Hasse, Samuel (Mary) Hasse, Kristen Hasse, Bonnie-Jean (Jordan) Shaw, and Lauren Hasse; and two great-granddaughters.  Doris hosted many family get-togethers over the years; she loved and enjoyed her children and grandchildren very much.

In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Doris trained and worked as an x-ray technician in both hospitals and private doctors' offices. She was also a Sunday School teacher at Brookdale Baptist Church (NJ) who devoted 40 years of her life to teaching children ages 4-8 about Jesus.   In later years she was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Elkhart and served in several capacities there.

Doris was well-known for reading, gardening, sewing, crocheting, and enjoying PBS TV shows.  She was a music lover and was especially fond of operettas, showtunes, and classical music.

Doris had a kind, giving spirit and was skilled, dependable, and committed in everything she undertook.  She was a faithful friend, family member, and servant of her Lord until the end.

A Funeral for Doris will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St, Elkhart, IN 46514,  with Pastor Jeremy Sarber officiating.

Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the start of the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the service at Prairie Street Cemetery.
