Doris Sandra Hale, 62, of Elkhart, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in Elkhart on July 4, 1961, to the late Iris Duty, who precedes her in death, and John Duty, who survives her.

Doris is also survived by her children, Barretta (Misty) Duty, Jennifer Bell, and Stacy Franco; 8 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and sister, Kathy (Kent) Kiester.

In accordance with Doris' wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 1-5 p.m. at 112 E. Lexington Ave. Elkhart, IN 46516.

Doris was always so full of life and loved to have fun with her friends and family. She was a substitute teacher through the Elkhart Community Schools for many years and enjoyed being a part of the Moose Lounge where she would play Bingo. Family meant the world to Doris. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren as often as she could. Together they enjoyed going swimming, going out to dinner at her favorite restaurant, Red Lobster, dancing to her favorite country music singers in the backyard or car, and coming together during the holidays where they enjoyed her famous dumplings. In her spare time, she would spend most of her day relaxing out by the water and watching Disney movies. Doris will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.
