Although Doris retired from NBD (now Chase) Bank in 1987, she would say her "real" occupation was mother and homemaker. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Elkhart, for more than 50 years; she volunteered at the church's "Mary's Pantry" for many years and was a member of Elkhart Art League. A very diverse and charismatic lady, Doris was a talented artist, an adept gardener and was able to cook a delicious full meal out of just about anything. She will be best remembered for her love of God and family but also for her dogs and her multitude of stray and unwanted cats that found a loving home with her.
