Doris Marie Brouse, 97, formerly of Union, MI passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart.
Doris was born on June 3, 1927 in Plymouth, IN to Ora and Leona (Eaton) Snyder. She was married to her late husband, Warren Brouse in 1982.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Warren; son, Roland Lamar Seaton; 5 sisters, Annabelle Biddle, Thelma Zellers, Mildred Cole, Barbara Fribley, and Mary Evelyn Cook
Doris is survived by her daughter, Janet (Bill) Braeckelaere of Eastaboga, AL; sisters, Marjorie Ermis and Dorothy Woodward; granddaughter, Carrie Ricard-Skaggs; great grandchildren, Madeline "Maddie" Ricard, Toby Ricard, Annie Ricard, Sammy Ricard, Will Skaggs, Silas Skaggs and many nieces and nephews.
Doris grew up as one of 8 daughters and remained close, long time friends with all of her sisters. All the sisters navigated through life's problems together and shared in the joys as well.
In her early years, Doris enjoyed fishing and loved living on Shavehead Lake with her husband. Together, they would enjoyed travelling on their motorcycle or their camper.
She worked at Schmucker Middle School and Penn High School for many years.
Doris was an avid reader and enjoyed raising flowers in her garden. She also enjoyed quiet walks in the woods.
Doris was a quiet and independent woman who had close friendships that lasted for many years.
The family would like to give thanks to those who have cared for Doris during the last years of her lfe, her niece, Eva Mancewicz, the staff at Greenleaf Assisted Living and Dunes Hospice nurse, Richard and nurse aids, Hannah and Jada.
A Funeral Service for Doris will be held at 12:00pm, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514. Pastor Tim Sheets of Northside Church of the Nazarene is officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm, 2 hours prior to the start of the service.
Burial will follow at Plum Grove Cemetery in Union, MI.
