ELKHART — Dora Nell Fields, 79, of Elkhart, passed away at her residence on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011.
Dora was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Elwood to Harold and Mary G. (Bagley) Wardwell. On April 7, 1950, in Marion, she married her husband of 61 years, Charles E. "John" Fields, and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, John J. Fields of Elkhart and Sam E. (Cathy) Fields of Rowlett, Texas; two brothers, Charles (Carol) Wardwell of Elwood and Bob (Vickie) Wardwell of Alexandria; two sisters, Janie Hess of Middletown and Corky (Jim) Hogan of Wolcottville; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Lee Carlton; two sisters; and a brother.
Dora was a member of Central Christian Church. She spent many years as a homemaker providing a loving home for her husband and children. Dora loved collecting her red birds, baking and always had a joke to share with others.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, two hours prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Dr. Mike Wills of Central Christian Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.
