OSCEOLA -- Donna G. Ward-Rhine, 75, of Osceola, died at 9:17 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 28, 2010) in Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born Oct. 11, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Clarence A. and Hazel H. (Westfall) Cox. On Aug. 16, 1952, she married Harry L. Ward in Elkhart. He died Jan. 9, 1994. She married Wally F. Rhine in LaPorte on May 18, 1996. He died March 28, 2008.

Mrs. Ward-Rhine is survived by four daughters, Susan (Jim) Metheny of Albuquerque, N.M., Diane Ward and Anne (Fred) Craft, both of Elkhart, and Karyn (Dan) Shine of Gretna, La.; two sons, Weston (Lisa) Ward of Elkhart and Brian Ward of Belen, N.M.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Drew Metheny and Harlen Ward.

Mrs. Ward-Rhine retired from Adams-Remco, Elkhart, and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she taught CCD. She graduated from St. Vincent School in 1948 and Elkhart High School in 1952. She enjoyed reading, cooking and her dog.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St., Elkhart. The Rev. Kevin Bauman will officiate. Cremation has already taken place.
