ELKHART — Donna Gail Joseph, 71, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 5, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Donna was born on Sept. 23, 1944, in Charleston, W.Va., to the late Dennis and Joann (Jones) Rhodes. She married Terry Lynn Joseph on March 31, 1988, in Fort Wayne.
Survivors include her husband; son Austin Herrick of Goshen; daughters Susan (Ryan) Maloney of Plainfield and Cynthia (Phillip) Wright of Owatonna, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; sister Denise (Charles) Keller of Fort Wayne; brothers David (Tina Davis) Rhodes of Cross Lanes, W.Va., and Rob (Patty) Rhodes of Fort Wayne; and uncle and aunt Delbert and Josephine Jones of Quaker Hill, Conn.
In addition to her parents, brother Gary Rhodes preceded her in death.
Donna worked at the membership desk at the Goshen Sam's Club 8170 for many years, welcoming many with her warm, friendly smile. She was a 1962 graduate of Sissonville High School in Charleston, W.Va., and graduated from Appalachian Bible College in Mt. Hope, W.Va., in 1968.
Donna was a woman of strong Christian faith and values, and was always willing to help anyone in need. She was a loving wife, mother and a doting mamaw to her 10 grandchildren. She enjoyed hunting for treasures at Goodwill and was a seller on eBay.
Funeral services celebrating Donna's life will begin at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, with visitation starting at 3 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Chaplin Ed Wilsberg with the Center for Hospice Care will officiate. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials to Ribbon of Hope Inc. or Hospice Foundation.
