ELKHART — Donna Jean Dorsey, 77, of Elkhart, passed to her rest Sunday, Sept. 27, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Dec. 15, 1937, in Cumberland, Md., to the late Russell and Nina (Swisher) Carr.
In addition to her parents, a sister, Dorothy, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children; four sons, Benjamin H. III (Kim) Dorsey of Elkhart, Steven (Rachel) Dorsey of Manassas, Va., Scott Dorsey of Salt Lake City and Thanh Dorsey of Defiance, Ohio; three daughters, Donna Jean Hortin of Salt Lake City, Victoria (Marvin) Talbot of Indianapolis; Katherine Harrington of Los Angeles; 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;brother Donald Carr of New Orleans, LA; sister Tootie Booth, Cumberland MD and her sister-in-law, April Adams of Baltimore.
Donna Jean retired from Sailers Grocery in Hicksville, Ohio, where she worked as a butcher and meat cutter. She was a graduate of Frostburg (Md.) High School. She was a faith-filled member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved to serve people. She was a poet and enjoyed writing inspirational poems and quoting and reading them to family and friends.
Private committal services will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap in Flintstone, Md.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart.
