ELKHART — Donavie Orletta Hackman, 91, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Valley View Health Care Center in Elkhart.
She was born July 29, 1920, in Three Oaks, Mich., to Clarence F. and Lila O. (Haack) Krueger. On July 6, 1946, she married Robert E. Hackman in Elkhart.
He preceded her in death April 30, 1954.
Survivors include a son, Loren D. Hackman of Elkhart; two daughters, Darlene K. (Dr. John) Stewart of Elkhart and Laurnell J. White of Sleepy Hollow, Ill.; sister Lavone Stoner of Elkhart; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Donavie was a graduate of Elkhart High School. She was employed locally in the banking industry for several years. She was a member of Elkhart First United Methodist Church. Donavie was an avid Chicago Cubs and Indianapolis Colts fan. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and watching college basketball.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2011, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Don Reed of Elkhart First United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Rice Cemetery.
