CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — Mr. Donald E. "Don" Kelly, 82, of Cassopolis, passed away after an extended illness, in his home, at 12:42 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013.

He was born on Sept. 30, 1930, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Clarence D. "C.D." and Alma (Mahler) Kelly.

He married Delicia M. (Overholser) Scott in 2008. She survives at home.

He was preceded in death by his first spouse, Cherie (Cox). She died in 2005, after 54 years of marriage. Also preceding Don were two sons, Shaun and Brian Kelly and a brother, Clarence Kelly Jr.

Along with Delicia, surviving are a son, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Kelly of Cassopolis; stepson Fred III (DAnn) Cox of Three Lakes; stepdaughters Deneice (Stan) Eyestone of Edwardsburg, Dreama (Rod) Yohn of Elkhart, Ind., and Dawn (Rey) Sanchez of Portabello, Panama; sister Karen Kelly of Mishawaka, Ind.; grandchildren Shannon (Gary) Doane, Shane Kelly and Darby O. Kelly; 12 stepgrandchildren; and 13 great-stepgrandchildren.

Services will be at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart, with a visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013. A Masonic service will also be at 7:30 p.m. by the Dowagiac Peninsula Lodge 10. A funeral will follow there at 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will then take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, Ind., with military graveside honors rendered by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard and Elkhart DAV Post 19. Pastor Rob Meckley of Adamsville Road Church of God in Elkhart will officiate.

Don was a graduate of Adams High School in South Bend and Tri-State University (now known as Trine) in Angola, Ind. He retired from Abitibi-Price of Middlebury, Ind., after 22 years. He also farmed, was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed bowling, traveling, attending his grandchildren's sporting events and taking care of his bees. He was a member of the Dowagiac Peninsula Masonic Lodge 10, was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, attended the Adamsville Road Church of God and was active in the "Shop With A Cop" gift program in Cassopolis.
