Donald "Don" Royce Holder, Sr. 84, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Port Charlotte Hospice House. He was born in Linton, IN on January 4, 1941, to the late Ernest and Virginia (Cullison) Holder.

Don is also preceded in death by his wife, Alice A. (Nunez) Holder; son, Donald R. Holder Jr.; and brother, Harold R. Holder. He is survived by his children, Dora Johnson and Donna Martsolf; 10 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren; and sister, Carolyn (Paul) Stone.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service to follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Michael Grantz officiating at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart, IN. Donald will be laid to rest at Prairie Street Cemetery with military honors to be rendered prior to the graveside service. Memorial donations may be given to the donor's choice.

Don was a man with a big heart with a strong-willed nature that allowed him to do anything he set his mind to. He served proudly in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge in Punta Gorda, FL. Don was a faithful member of Faith Evangelical Free Church in Garrettsville, Ohio and it was his faith that kept him strong after his wife passed away.

Don enjoyed helping others and he prided himself on being a handyman, despite missing his dominant arm. He worked in the RV industry, was a painter, and mechanic for 25 years. Don had a witty sense of humor and often pranked many of the people he met with his stump; this included his family as well. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and taking the occasional fishing trips with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He could always be found watching the St. Louis Cardinals who he had been a lifelong fan of. Don will be greatly missed.
