Fisk
Aug 1, 1953 — Jun 29, 2026
Elkhart, IN
Donald “Don” Leroy Fisk, 72, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 29, 2026.
Don was born in Hillsdale, MI on August 1, 1953 to Ford Franklin Fisk and Olive Jean (Lehman) Fisk. He married the love of his life, Laura (Williams) Fisk on September 17, 1994 in Mishawaka, IN.
Don is survived by his wife of close to 32 years, Laura Fisk; children, Stephen Miller, Dana Miller, Lori (Josh) Thibos and Cherie (James) Ussery; 11 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
Don grew up in a close-knit, small town in Michigan, where he developed the strong values that defined his entire life. A man of remarkable stability and dedication, he spent his entire career working faithfully at Dexter Axle.
Beyond his professional life, Don was a man of many talents. In his earlier years, he captured the joyful beginnings of countless families as a talented wedding photographer. He also shared his love for harmony and music as a member of a local barbershop quartet, bringing smiles and song to his community.
An absolute sports fanatic, Don’s passion was infectious. He was an avid bowler and spent many rewarding years coaching women’s softball, mentoring players both on and off the field. On Saturdays, he could always be found cheering on his beloved University of Michigan Wolverines.
Don possessed a brilliant mind for trivia, always ready with a quick fact or a witty answer. In his downtime, he loved traveling to new places, listening to music, and enjoying lighthearted romantic comedies.
Above all, Don’s life was anchored by his deep faith. He and his beloved wife, Laura, were active and faithful members of the First Brethren Church of Elkhart, where they shared in fellowship and community.
More than any hobby or achievement, Don’s greatest joy and highest priority was his family. He was a deeply attentive and caring husband, taking exceptional care of his wife, Laura.
Don cared for his stepchildren , Stephen, Dana, Lori and Cherie as if his own children. Don was a supportive father in their lives taking them to places where they needed and challenged them with life’s most difficult decisions.
His warmth, his gentle humor, and his protective spirit will be missed beyond measure by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
