Donald George Bussard, 88, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at The Laurels of Goshen. He was born on July 14, 1935, in Elkhart to the late Howard and Hazel (Memmott) Bussard.

Donald is also preceded in death by his brothers, Howard, Bill, Chuck, Richard, and Bob Bussard; sisters, Joan Petgen, Jean Stahl, Susie Stevenson, Marie Mandabach, Virginia Antisdel, Carol Lou Bussard, and Patty Williams; and grandson, SSG Jesse Lee Williams.

He is survived by his children, Ken (Cindy) Bussard, Cathy Bennett (Todd Genth), David (Vicki) Bussard, Debbie (Sam) Passerallo; brother, Bill (Sandy) Bussard; grandchildren, Matt (Karina) Bussard, Megan (Aaron) Barnes, Kara Jo Freyenberger, Ryan (Libby) Bennett, Rosy (Bill) Golupski, Sandy Williams, Cara Ashley Watt; and great grandchildren, Ben, Ada, Brett, Everett, Daphne, Alexis, Landon, Ember, Adleigh, Easton, Kyler, Madison, Corbyn.

Donald kept to himself most of the time and enjoyed working around the house, especially when he could mow his lawn and tidy up his garden. He was known for his immaculate, green lawns and Big Boy tomatoes. Prior to retiring, he worked as a machinist for many years. In his spare time, he loved cheering on his favorite teams, the Chicago Bears and the Cubs, watching NASCAR, taking long drives through Elkhart County, and enjoying a good steak on the grill while cracking open a cold beer.

Donald was also excellent at predicting the weather to a "T". About three weeks ago, he told his daughter, Cathy, that she would be seeing more snow…and sure enough it happened unexpectedly on Saturday, February 24th. Donald will be missed greatly by his loving family.

In accordance with Donald's wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart.
