ELKHART — Dexter Powell, 52, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 22, 1959, in Liberty, Miss.
Survivors include a son, Joshua Jevan Keith Allen of Elkhart; stepdaughter Jeaniia Sharmel Allen of Elkhart; parents James and Mary H. (Floyd) Powell of Elkhart; two sisters, Roz Williamson and Deborah Powell, both of Elkhart; two grandsons, Jacques Jexank Darrell Allen and Jelon Victor Williams, both of Elkhart; niece Joshlyn Bell of Elkhart; nephew Jace Williamson of Columbia City; his longtime companion, Andrea Allen of Elkhart; and his good friend and brother, Marise Sleepers of Elkhart.
He was a 1979 graduate of Elkhart Memorial High School.
Dexter was employed at We PACS as a line supervisor for several years.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Canaan Baptist Church, 933 Fieldhouse Ave., Elkhart. The Rev. McNeal Stewart III will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
