ELKHART — Devon Raye Sullivan, 13, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, Dec.23 at the emergency department at Elkhart General Hospital following an accident at a friend's house.
He was born Feb. 2, 2003, in Alamosa, CO to Antonio R. and Crystal (Ramirez) Sullivan, who survive in Phoenix.
Along with his parents, Devon leaves behind sisters Maria Martinez and Tyrianna Sullivan, both of Phoenix, Jenna Smith of Texas, Jarika Sullivan of Indianapolis and Diamond Sullivan of Elkhart; brothers Jaleel Sullivan of Indianapolis, Jarrin Jordan of Gary and Desmond Martinez of Phoenix; his aunt Erika Sullivan, who raised him, and his cousins Erik Quinci and Maxis Sullivan, with whom he lived as a brother.
A maternal grandmother, Dorothy Ramirez, precedes him in death.
Devon was an avid natural athlete as a West Side Middle School Wildcat, and he represented his school with pride and prowess with his basketball and football skills.
He was also academically talented as well, and it was always a pleasure to see his ever-present smile in class.
He was very well known in his community, and his sense of humor and genuine love for his family and others endeared him to all who knew him.
A Celebration of Devon's life will take place at the Kingdom Impact Christian Cultural Center, 2201 Toledo Road, Elkhart with visitation beginning at noon Friday, Dec. 30 followed by a home going celebration at 1 p.m.
The Reverends Lamont Brown and Harvey Fisher will officiate, along with Pastor Edwin Newsome, and burial will follow at noon CST (1:00 p.m. Elkhart time) on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at Fern Oaks Cemetery in Griffith, IN.
