Devon Willis Helmuth, age 65, passed away early Monday morning, August 16, 2021, at home, with his loving family at his side. Devon was born on August 12, 1956, in Topeka, Indiana the son of the late Catherine Helmuth. On August 29, 1987, he married Deborah "Deb" Went. Surviving is his wife of 33 years Deb Helmuth, two sons, Sean (Renee) Helmuth, Jason Helmuth and fiancée Stephanie Fisher; 7 loving grandchildren, Kayla Fisher, Braden Henderson, Caleb Helmuth, Brenna Evans, Taylor Helmuth, Jayse Helmuth, Shiloh Helmuth; and his sister Cindy Carrick; Devon was preceded in death by his mother Catherine and sister Joanna Lay.

Devon worked for over 40 years as a HVAC specialist for Hileman Heating and Air Conditioning and was very passionate about the work he performed. He was very handy and could make just about anything with his hands. He enjoyed drawing and liked to collect knifes.

Devon served in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy. He was very patriotic and proud to serve his country.

Devon was a proud man, very laid back and easy going and never liked to ask for help if he didn't have too. Most of all he loved being a dad, husband and grandpa to his family. One of his favorite things to do was give his grandchildren ice cream for breakfast.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10:00 am until Noon Friday, August 20, 2021 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. At Noon military honors will be rendered by the Elkhart Marine Corps League Detachment #1397 and U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Detail.
