ELKHART -- Dennis "Den" Tettenborn, 63, of Elkhart, died Thursday afternoon (Nov. 12, 2009) in his home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1946, in Chicago to Albert and Gladys (Klima) Tettenborn. On Feb. 28, 1970, he married Sandra E. Giglio in Knox. She survives along with many neighborhood friends.
Mr. Tettenborn retired as a machinist from Rockwell International (now Boeing), Knox, after working there for over 20 years. He worked part-time at Palmer Hardware in the rental and small engine area, and from his garage repaired small engines for friends and neighbors.
A graduate of Knox High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War who served in Germany from 1966 until he was honorably discharged in 1968. Mr. Tettenborn enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
Friends may call for a half hour prior to Thursday's 10 a.m. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1405 N. Main St., Elkhart. The Rev. William "Bill" Sullivan will officiate. Military honors will be rendered after the service at the church by the U.S. Army Burial Honors Detail. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date in the veterans section of Prairie Street Cemetery.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is assisting with arrangements.
