Dennis Konecny Life Story

Dennis Henry Konecny, 83, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family and love. Dennis was born on May 24, 1941, in Great Falls, Montana to the late Henry V. and Lucille C. "Lu" (Restelli) Konecny. In addition to his parents, brothers Jerome, Thomas and Peter Konecny, sisters Mary Walker and Patricia Cortas, brothers-in-law Ralph Cortas, John Walker and Bryan Cunningham and sister-in-law Linda Konecny preceded him in death.

He married his best friend and soulmate Catherine L. "Cathy" (Halley) Konecny on June 28, 1980, in Calhoun County. Michigan, in the rumble seat of a Model A. Catherine survives, as well as his two sons, Eric (Jammie) Konecny, Anthony Konecny and his daughter Monique Konecny, granddaughter Erica (Bradley) Peludat, two great-grandsons, Carson and Cullen, and a great-granddaughter Cressa.

Also surviving are his siblings; Eugene Konecny, Pamela (August) Bozzuto, Margaret (Gary) Goodman, Jan (Denise) Konecny, Arthur (Phyllis) Konecny, Paul (Cathy) Konecny, Nina Cunningham, Jennifer (Evan) Martin, Carolyn (Larry) Blosser, sisters-in-law Tina Konecny and Deb Konecny, and a host of nieces and nephews.

After graduating high school, Dennis heard the call to duty and joined the United States Navy and faithfully served his country from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1963 and then served in the U.S. Navy Reserve until 1965.

Dennis worked as a plant manager for various RV and Mobile Home companies in the area, including Midas International, Forest River, Coachmen, and Zimmer Corporation in Florida. He worked for Model A and Model T Replicar in Battle Creek, Michigan, and also worked with Avanti Automobile in South Bend.

In honoring Dennis's wishes, cremation was chosen under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.

Please join his family as they celebrate the life of Dennis with full Navy military honors rendered at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, Michigan, on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Robert VanKempen will officiate, with military honors to follow.
