Dennis D. Byrket, 71, of Elkhart, went Home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, January 3, 2025 at his home.
Dennis was born on February 4, 1953 to the late Robert Eugene Byrket and Carol Jean (Dills) Byrket in Elkhart, IN.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Carol Byrket.
Dennis is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Byrket (Rob Patton) of Colorado Springs, Co and Shelley (Kevin) Nymeyer of Billings, MT, Hollie Deager; sister, Debra K. (Byrket) Milner of Elkhart; brother, David (Laurie) Byrket of Wakarusa, IN; Amy Sorg, Todd Byrket; nieces and nephews, Laurie (Justin) Bayles; Linda (Rob) Webster and Lindsey (Justin) Swinehart; grandnieces and grandnephews, Westin, Jessica, Bridgett, Mackenize, Jameson, Lauralei, Erica, Hannah and Micah and his many friends.
Dennis graduated from Elkhart High School. He worked at Goshen Coach Inc., REV Inc., Medix Specialty Ambulance as a lead electrician.
Dennis started his love of ham radio from his family friend, Howard Held when he was in high school. Dennis spent hours doing radio relays from around the world. He had memberships in 2 amateur radio clubs, AR2 and Elkhart Ham Radio Club.
When Dennis was not on his ham radio, he spent hours playing lead guitar. He procured at least 6 highly prized guitars in his collection.
Dennis played in the Praised Band for many years at New Testament Bible Church in Jimtown for Pastor Shirley Fox.
Dennis joined Christian Center Church around 2020 and continued to be an active member.
After a medical setback, Dennis successfully learned to play his guitar again with Ron Johnson and wife in the music ministry.
His 2022 Dodge Demon was his pride and joy. He entered his car in many local car shows.
Dennis was able to rekindle his relationship with his daughters, Stephanie Patten and Shelley Neumeyer after the girls became adults.
He obtained his private pilot's license and flew prop planes. He was a seasoned ham radio operator. His ham radio handle, "KA9VTL" was known in the ham radio circle.
Dennis also enjoyed working in his yard and tinkering with electronics and he was dedicated to keeping his muscle cars immaculate.
Dennis was a gifted and intelligent individual. He was a devout Christian man and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service for Dennis will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Pastor Mark Lantz of Central Christian Church of South Bend officiating.
Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the start of service from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
A Graveside Service will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
