UNION, Mich. — Delores M. Harman, 79, of Union, passed away Wednesday evening, May 2, 2012, at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, of natural causes.
She was born March 26, 1933, in Goshen, Ind., to Clifford and Leona (Miller) Welty. She graduated from Goshen High School in 1951 and married William E. Harman on Dec. 10, 1955.
He survives, as well as her daughter, Vickie Burley of Union, and sons Fred (Beverly) Harman of Dade City, Fla., and David Harman of Elkhart, Ind. Five grandchildren, Jonathon Harman, Maurice Whiteman, Kregg Whiteman, Janelle Whitaker and Jessica Brandli; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Troyer of Goshen, survive as well.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Gerald and Willard "Billie" Welty and sisters Phyllis Sowers, Erma Baker and Laurabelle Bleile. Delores worked at Henry's Tea Room and Kroger in Goshen and also as a secretary in the family business, Harman Lumber and Supply Inc., and then retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of the Cass County Conservation Club, Elkhart Moose Lodge and Edwardsburg American Legion.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Eastlake for the care, kindness and personal attention Delores received while there, and the many friends she acquired.
Delores' wishes were to be cremated, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home Elkhart.
