ELKHART — Delores J. "Dee" Klein, 72, of Elkhart, passed away in her home at 12:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, following an extended illness.
She was born April 3, 1942, in South Bend, to the late Casmier A. and Rose E. (Orban) Elli.
She married David L. "Dave" Klein in Elkhart in 1963. He survives her at home.
Also surviving are her son, Ty Klein of Elkhart; sister Mary Ellen (Oliver) Royce; granddaughters Amber (Nick) Sheppard of Elkhart and Stacy (Greg) Stutzman of Columbus, Ohio; great-grandson Caleb Stutzman; her nieces, Lory and Kimmy Royce of Granger, who helped out with Dee's home care; and dear friend Brenda Ellsworth of Elkhart, whose companionship made things easy on everyone.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Ann Pinkowski, and her special companion, Boo the dog.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation is to take place. Following that, a memorial entombment service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the "Glory" niche tower in Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.
Dee worked in the local manufacturing industry including Selmer's Band Instruments and Uniroyal. She enjoyed collecting NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Jr. memorabilia and Charming Tail mouse figurines. She also liked to fish in her free time, and was considered by her husband as the "best fishing partner ever." She was also an avid animal lover.
