ELKHART — Delores Ann "Sue" Parks, 81, of Elkhart, passed away at 2:05 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Elkhart General Hospital.
Sue was born Aug. 27, 1933, in South Bend, to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Hall) Long.
She married Nelson "Sonny" Parks on June 14, 1952, in South Bend.
They were married for 57 years before Sonny died Feb. 15, 2010.
Surviving are her children, Brenda (Charles) Alberts of Elkhart, Steve Parks and Kevin Parks and his partner, Nathaniel Singleton, all of South Bend; and five loving grandchildren, Hunter Parks, Grace Parks, Jamie (Nancy) Coleman, Dustin (Monica) Alberts and Tiffany Alberts.
Sue, as she was affectionately known, worked for 15 years as a meat wrapper at Kroger, Martin's Super Market and Wilts. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and VFW Post 360 in Mishawaka. She was involved with Girl Scouts with her daughter and for 12 years with her granddaughter.
Sue was an avid shopper and bingo player. She enjoyed ceramics and doing arts and crafts.
Visitation for Sue will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Funeral services celebrating her life will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the funeral home, where friends may call for an hour prior to the service. Pastor Dennis Judy will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
