ELKHART -- Debra Sue Pittman, 54, of Elkhart passed away Thursday (Dec. 16, 2010), at Elkhart General Hospital after a courageous 11-year battle with cancer.
She was born April 4, 1956, in Elkhart to Chalmer W. and Dorothy A. (Britton) Pittman.
Debra is survived by her son, Bryce Pittman; mother Dorothy A. Kissel; and brother Bill Pittman and his wife Nancy, all of Elkhart. Preceding her in death were her father, Chalmer W. Pittman, and stepfather Paul G. Kissel.
Debra worked at Walmart on Elkhart Road, Goshen, for 15 years, mainly on the third shift in shipping/receiving and stocking. She was a 1974 graduate of Elkhart Memorial High School, where she participated in the orchestra. She was attending Faith United Methodist Church and was an avid animal lover. Her positive attitude during her illness along with her smile will be remembered by all.
Please join with her family and friends on Monday from 4 p.m. until a service to celebrate her life at 7 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Larry Kurtz will officiate. Private burial will take place Tuesday in South Union Cemetery, Nappanee.
