ELKHART -- Deanna L. "Dee" Kiernan, 70, of Elkhart, died at 2 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 9, 2010) at her residence.
She was born Aug. 10, 1940, in Elkhart to Roscoe and Margaret G. (Clark) Weaver. She married John W. Kiernan on Jan. 1, 1959.
He survives in Elkhart along with two sons, Barry (Shirley) Kiernan of Silver Lake, Ohio, and Jim Kiernan of Fishers; one daughter, Brenda (Clint) Lowery of Fort Wayne; three sisters, Clareen Colclesser of Elkhart, Sue (Lofton) Harmon of Nappanee and Colleen (Paul) Alwine of Union, Mich.' and four grandchildren, Jonathon Kiernan and Leah, Charlie and Paige Lowery.
Deanna was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
She retired in 1995 after working as a licensed practical nurse at Elkhart General Hospital for nearly 25 years. She was a 1958 graduate of Elkhart High School. She enjoyed traveling, working in her yard and gardening but most special to her were her grandchildren whom she loved.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. A service to celebrate her life will be at 2 p.m. Monday, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Jack Colclesser officiating.
Burial will be in Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen.
