ELKHART — Tevita "David" Tukumohe Veamoi, 62, of Elkhart, passed away at 9 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011, at his residence.
He was born May 12, 1949, in Nuku'alofa, Tonga, to Tevita Vakalahi and Tae (Leleipetonga) Veamoi. On March 21, 1978, he married Ruth E. (Talone) Veamoi and she survives.
Other survivors include his two sons, Norman (Ericka) Veamoi of Winder, Ga., and Mark Veamoi of Elkhart; daughter, Terri (Brian) Holt of Barrington Hills, Ill.; five sisters, Moala (Inoke) Fifita of Tonga, Lavuni (Viliami) Taukolo of Auckland, New Zealand, Kaloni (Lilo) Savieti of Auckland, New Zealand, Folola (Soane) Penitani of Elkhart and Lilieta (Viliami) Langi of Tonga; brother, Samiu (Patricia) Vakalahi of Elkhart; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Umukisia Wainiqolo.
David was employed as a floor engineer at MTS Products for nearly 25 years. He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. David often enjoyed reading his Bible, attending various church activities and building all types of wooden projects.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 3300 Benham Ave., Elkhart, IN 46517. Pastor Andrea Hickey will officiate.
Interment will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.
