ELKHART — David W. Shoufler, 58, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, following an extended illness.
He was born March 6, 1958, in Danville, Ill., to the late Jerold W. and Beverly A. (Smock) Shoufler and then married Leticia (Moreno) on Oct. 27, 1979. She survives him at home.
Also surviving are his daughters, Christina M. and Sandra L. Shoufler and grandson Landon W. Shoufler, all of Elkhart; brothers Karl, Gary (Joanna White) and Michael (Brandy Ball) Shoufler, all of Bristol, and John (Crystal) Shoufler of Russellville, Ark.; as well as 19 nieces and nephews.
David's life will be celebrated at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart beginning with a viewing there from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 29, followed by a funeral at noon Saturday, July 30, with visitation of one hour prior to the funeral service. Pastor Delbert Richie of the Word of Life Fellowship in Elkhart will officiate and burial will follow services in Olive Cemetery in Elkhart.
David worked as a mechanical engineer at Accra Pac (now KIK) of Elkhart for more than 30 years. He was a man who gave of himself freely, and his caring and selfless personality earned him the love and respect of friends and family alike. His passions included watching stock car races, golfing, traveling the world and spending time with his beloved grandson.
