ELKHART -- David Rolland Moore, 20, of Elkhart, died at 5:50 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 7, 2010) from head injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident.

He was born April 30, 1989, in Elkhart to David L. and Tracey (Gress) Moore.

He is survived by his father, David L. (Anne) Moore of Elkhart; his mother, Tracey (Mark) Mendez of Elkhart; one sister, Alesha Moore of Elkhart; one brother, Bradley Moore of Elkhart; four stepbrothers, Ryan Haukaas of South Bend and David, Cameron and AJ Mendez, all of Elkhart; four stepsisters, Rachel Haukaas of South Bend, and Kristen (Matt) Geers, Bianca and Carmen Mendez, all of Elkhart; his grandparents, Stephen and Charlotte A. Gress and Betty Moore, all of Elkhart; and his great-grandmother, Mary E. Ivers of Vincennes.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Rachel Lynn Moore; his grandfather, David G. Moore; and his great-grandparents, Rollie and Mildred Gress and Dale Ivers.

Mr. Moore had worked at Axis Products, Elkhart, and Allie's Cafe, South Bend. He attended Elkhart Central and Memorial high schools and earned his GED. In his youth he played Rocket Football and soccer, and wrestled on the West Side Middle School team. He enjoyed snow skiing and skateboarding, as well as spending time with his friends and family.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Friday service of celebration at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Mark Fenstermacher of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. A graveside service and burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.
