David Reese Miles, 78, of Goshen, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Center for Hospice Care, Raclin House in Mishawaka. Born on June 20, 1944, in Franklin, Kentucky, David was the son of the late Eddie and Hilda (Reed) Miles and first spouse Beverly (Yates) Miles.

David was married to Donna J. (Szabo) Cornwell on June 26, 1987, and they enjoyed 35 wonderful years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Chris Miles and Shane Miles, daughter Shannon Baker and her husband Dave and daughter in law Dana Miles. He also had six loving grandchildren, Logan, Noah, Brock, Josh, Jessica, and Cassidy, and four great-grandchildren, Dallas, Raegan, Finley, and Remi. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Mark Miles and his sister Jan Korody and her husband Rich.

David graduated from Miami University. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, from January of 1967 until his honorable discharge in April of 1968, achieving the rank of Second Lieutenant and the National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, David worked at the Dayton Tire and Rubber Company for 10 years and then at Excel Industries as a cost estimator for 19 years. He also worked in sales for Elder- Beerman.

David was an active member of the Dunlap United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and did solos, as well as held other administrative positions in the church.

David was an avid sports enthusiast who loved bowling, golf, and softball. He also enjoyed dancing, but his greatest joy was coaching, watching, and cheering on his children and grandchildren at their own sporting events. He was immensely proud of them all and cherished every moment spent with them.

David Reese Miles will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.

Services celebrating the life of David R. Miles, will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 12 pm, Est., with visitation from 10 am to 12 pm at Dunlap United Methodist Church, 23674 US-33, Elkhart, IN 46517. Pastor Melissa Englehart will officiate. Military Honors will be rendered by the U.S. Air Force Funeral Honor Guard, (EVHG) Elkhart Veterans Honor Guard and the Northern Indiana Patriot Guard Riders.
