Mr. David G. McCarty, Jr., 59, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at his home following an extended illness on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019 at 2:40 p.m.

He was born Apr. 13, 1960 in South Bend to David G. McCarty, Sr., who survives him, and Mary (Stouder) McCarty, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 22, 1999 he married Hope M. Niper, who survives him at home.

Also surviving is a sister, Kathy S. (Chuck Grimes) McCarty; niece and nephew Krystal and Steven McCarty; great niece and nephew Rayne and Jacob, and his faithful buddy Jack the dog.

In accordance with Dave's wishes, no services have been planned and Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting the family.

Dave was a laser operator in the RV industry for many years, but he probably better identified himself as a "jack-of-all-trades". He was always looking for projects to keep him busy, and because if this, he became quite an accomplished woodcarver and woodworker. He was a beloved jokester and was known to have a very warped and active sense of humor because he absolutely LOVED to dress up as Bigfoot and Frankenstein (he was 6'8") and scare the pants off of his friends and co-workers.
