David "Big Mac" McCarty Sr., 83, of Elkhart, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at his home.

David was born on April 10, 1938 to James O. McCarty and Fern (Hartman) McCarty in Elkhart. He married the love of his life, Mary E. (Stouder) McCarty on March 21, 1959 in Elkhart. David is preceded in death by his wife, Mary; son, David McCarty Jr.;  parents, James and Fern and 4 brothers and sisters.

David is survived by his daughter, Kathy McCarty (Charles Grimes); grandchildren, Krystal and Steven (Amber) McCarty of Elkhart; 3 great grandchildren, Jacob Prieto, Rayne and Xander McCarty; and daughter-in-law, Hope McCarty of Pennsylvania.

David was a machinist at Atwood Mobile Products. He also worked at Skyline Homes and Buddy Mobile Homes. David was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and D.A.V. Chapter 19. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing. David was an avid reader in his spare time. He will be remembered as a loving and funny man. Most of all, he was a loving father and grandfather.

Per David's wishes, he will be cremated and privately interred at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola at a later date. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart is assisting the family.
