IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David R.
Lundgren
September 3, 1960 – November 7, 2021
Mr. David R. "Dave" Lundgren, 61, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 3:18 pm at Goshen General Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Blue Island, Illinois on September 3, 1960 to the late Fred W. and Dorothy (Rasmussen) Lundgren and later married Tonya R. Hall on May 28, 1982 in Goshen. She survives after nearly 40 years together in marriage.
Also surviving Dave are his sons Dustin D. (Amber) Lundgren of Bristol and Derek R. (Janelle) Lundgren of Elkhart; granddaughters Hailey and Kaylynne Lundgren; sisters Susan J. (Roger Shay) Lundgren and Tina M. (Steve) Datena, both of Elkhart, and a host of loving, extended family and good friends.
Dave spent over 30 years in the landscaping business, owning and operating "Dave's Landscaping", a successful landscape and maintenance company that took care of many high end landscape projects throughout the Michiana area which included the Pottawatomie Zoo and local parks. Dave loved to work which was reflected in his always on the go schedule.
He was an avid waterfowl hunter, and for years he had been training high-quality, professional competition-level hunting dogs. His two current dogs, Sonny and Joy, are both master-level hunters but also have been Dave (and Tonya's) lovable "house dogs", and friends to granddaughters Kaylynne and Hailey. Dave was also a long-time member of the Backwater Retriever Club out of Albion, IN.
Dave passed along the love of auto racing and hockey to his sons. Both of his sons played hockey growing up and became involved in auto racing. His sons both raced go-karts and moved on to racing stock cars at local tracks like New Paris, M-40, South Bend and Kalamazoo. Dave also loved to spend time with his sweet granddaughters.
In accordance with Dave's wishes, no immediate services or rites have been scheduled. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting the family with cremation arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Dave's family asks that you take a moment to tell those very close to you that you LOVE them and to be "seed planters" and "the light" for Jesus Christ.
Finally, it should be mentioned that Dave was a very devout Christian. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and would share the message of his saving grace to anyone who would listen.
The family would like to thank all of the medical staff who came together to care for Dave and make his last days as comfortable as possible. You all are truly a blessing to this family.
Memorial donations may be given to the charity of one's choice. Please feel free to leave condolences and memories on Dave's obituary page.
