ELKHART — David E. "Dave" Humphrey, 58, of Elkhart, passed away in Middlebury, following an illness at 6:35 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2017.

He was born Feb. 13, 1959, in Chicago, to the late Conn L. and Betty (Dulin) Humphrey, and leaves behind his former spouse, Florence "Flo" (Rapin) Humphrey of Elkhart.

Also surviving are his siblings Kelly (Jeff) Shreiner of Bristol, Mark (Tracy) Humphrey of Elkhart, Cindy Humphrey of Goshen, Rhonda (Rick) Backes of Albers, Illinois, Vicky (Roger) Hartley of Muncie; a half brother, Jerry Grogan of San Francisco, California; a host of loving nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Dexie.

In accordance with Dave's wishes, cremation is to take place and a memorial service will be at a later date.

Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.

Dave worked for the local RV industry for many years as a technician and maintenance specialist.

He was a member of Elkhart Moose Lodge No. 599 and enjoyed watching NASCAR and rooting for his Chicago Bears.

In his free time, he could be found vacationing at Kentucky Lake or spending time with his family and Dexie.
