ELKHART -- David Lee Gebert, 54, of Elkhart, died Tuesday (March 1, 2011) at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born April 14, 1956, in Elkhart to Chester S. and Dorothy Mae (Brantner) Gebert.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy M. Gebert; sister Terry (Ron) Walden, both of Elkhart; brother Gary (Feylin) Gebert of Winnetka, Calif.; nephews Jason Gebert and Wayne and Allen Owensby; niece Kiara Gebert; and his faithful Tibetan terrier, Symone. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester S. Gebert, in 1979.
Services for David will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, where friends may call one hour prior. Cremation will follow services.
David worked for more than 26 years in Houston, Texas, as a self-employed senior 3D mechanical designer. He did drafting and was a project management professional. He was a 1979 Elkhart Memorial High School graduate and was an avid sports fan, with the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs among his favorites. He also enjoyed music, playing the saxophone and golfing.
