David Lynn Deitch, 63, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack, Sunday January 23, 2022 at the Emergency Room at Elkhart General Hospital. David was born on December 5, 1958 in Elkhart to the late Myrl W. "Bill "Deitch Jr. and Betty Ann (Manning) Deitch. In addition to his parents Bill and Betty, a son Austin Robert Deitch and his sister Catherine "Cathy" Rae Deitch preceded him in death.

Surviving is his companion and best friend of 13 years, Judy A. Roberts; son Alex (Stephanie) Deitch; two daughters, Alyssa (Steve) Powell, Michelle Stevens; two grandchildren, Brandi Latham, Jackson Thomas; also surviving is two brothers, James "Jimmy" (Patty) Deitch, Thomas (Sally) Deitch; two nieces, Rachael (Carlease) Clark, Natalie Deitch; and great nephews Kaison and Justin Clark. Judy's family include a daughter Amber (Bryan) Hammertree and son Justin (Sharon) Staufenbeil and six grandchildren.

David was a proud 1977 graduate of Elkhart Central High School. He was one a former co-owner of BRD Supply, Inc. in Bristol, and worked in or around the recreational vehicle industry for most of his life. In his younger days, Dave was a motocross racer, and spent many weekends at RedBud Trails now RedBud MX in Buchannan, MI, racing and then later enjoying going to RedBud in the summer to watch the races.

David enjoyed the water, having grown up on the upper St. Joe River, boating, swimming, and skiing, he also loved the beach, ocean, and warm weather. David liked to play golf and was a great cook. He had a green thumb and could grow about anything. Dave has visited every state in the nation.

A gathering of friends and family for David, will be held from 4-6 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022 at the Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Cremation will follow. Condolences may be made online at www.billingsfuneralhome.com
