ELKHART — Mr. David L. Anderson, 59, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully following an extended illness at Elkhart General Hospital on Friday, Dec. 23 at 12:02 p.m.
He was born in Elkhart on March 17, 1957, to the late Odell Anderson, Sr. and Gladys Kimbrough, who survives him in Fort Wayne.
Also surviving are sons Davis (Michelle) and Kyron Anderson, both of Elkhart; daughter Nicole Jackson of Grand Rapids, MI; sisters Winnie (David) Sims and Carmen Williams, both of Elkhart, Norma (Oscar) Bonds of St. Paul, MN and Lois Kimbrough of Ceres, CA; brothers Odell Anderson , Jr. of Elkhart and Lovell (Kathy) Anderson of East Palo Alto, CA and two grandchildren. Brother Leroy Knox and sisters Adriane Anderson and Connie Jefferson precede David in death, along with a host of aunts and uncles as well.

Pastor Danny Brown of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church of Elkhart will officiate and burial will follow in Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
David, originally from Elkhart, moved to California for several years and worked in the electronics industry in Silicon Valley before moving back home.
Despite being disabled, David got around and was a well-known and respected member of his community.
He enjoyed having fun, especially with his grandchildren, but he took the notion of helping others very seriously.
He was a master chess player, eclectic connoisseur of music and friend to all.
He also was a recent recipient of ABC 57's 57 Minute Miracle.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is honored to be hosting David's services beginning with a viewing there at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30 followed by home going service at noon.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Kidney Foundation.
